Introduction: E-learning Training in Health Promotion and Health Education Programs Development has been included since 2007 in the provision of adult education services by the University of Athens’ Vocational Training Centre.

Program Aims: To provide necessary qualifications to those willing to obtain evidence-based knowledge and required skills for enhancing the positive health of individuals or groups in a variety of settings (community, health services, school environment, worksites).

Training Methodology: The program is being implemented via a user-friendly software (educational platform) adjusted to the Distance Learning Principles and it lasts three months. The users can access the e-classroom with their personal code number and within it they can browse the teaching material, news, the e-mail account and the assessment tests. The educational material is being gradually disposed, per teaching unit, through the electronic classrooms. During the enrollment the user can find in a relevant link the news/ announcements, such as timetables, study guides and the final exam paper, that are necessary for the smooth implementation of the educational process. After completion of the study of each unit, the trainee must electronically take and submit the corresponding test. In parallel, full educational support is provided since the trainees can address their appointed tutor electronically, through an integrated communication system. Finally, there is also provided access to a specially configured electronic library.

Program Content: It contains four electronic modules consisting of 10 units: 1. “Introduction in Health Promotion”, 2. “Planning a Health Promotion Program”, 3. “Interventions in Health Promotion Programs”, and 4. “Evaluating Health Promotion Programs”.

Conclusion: On the completion of the current program the trainee will have amplified their knowledge with regard to needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation methodology of Health Promotion and Health Education programs.
