INTRODUCTION

The paper was conceived from the necessity of disseminate the positive effects of the discipline: Labor, Education and Health, Master in Public Health from the National School of Public Health - FIOCRUZ - in the city of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.

The discipline has become a privileged place to academic and political discussions. The discussions addressed questions related to the issue of formation of human resources in health, in the current world scenario, and sought propositive directions.

Some questions can be placed as central pillars of the discipline: how to train the professional health to which we need? What is the “social world” we live in? What is the “labor world” to which we introduce ourselves?

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the meetings were the categories reflect on Labor - Education – Health, seeking their articulation to different forms of social organization, encouraging the reading criticism regarding issues that characterize contemporary society.

METHODOLOGY

Ten meetings were held, attended by students of the Master's and Ph.D. courses, officials concerned by the issue, outside students, the teacher responsible, and invited experts on the subject. Seminars, debates, readings and preparation of final work as an article.

The guiding questions of each session were openly discussed, based on previously studied texts, which allowed the occurrence of a qualified debate. Texts has been read by Brazilian and other nationalities researchers, involved in thinking about contemporarity, work, education and health.

STUDIED RESULTS/CONCLUSIONS

The experience showed the relevance of the expanded discussions and the critical look at the different social and health systems in formulating various consistent and efficient strategies for training. Another key result was the encouragement of scientific production on the subject, articulating professional knowledge of Public Health linked to various sectors such as Planning and Management, Health Policy and Health-Society.
