It is determined that a sample size of 369 participants was necessary in this study (p=0.5, d=0.05, t=1.96). In total, 856 high school students were recruited. A self-administered questionnaire was applied to the participants. Data were given as mean ± standard deviation (SD) and percentage. Analysis of data was performed by using Fisher’s Exact test. Forty point three percent had been bullied physically, 25.1% had been bullied verbally, and 12.4.3% had been bullied emotionally, at least once during the academic year. There were clear gender differences, with boys consistently experiencing more physical bullying including kicking-slapping, assault with a knife, rude physical jokes, and more verbal bullying including name calling and insulting-swearing (all significant at p < 0.001). Among the three types of bullying in both genders, students generally reported negative views about the consequences on them including low psychological well-being, poor social adjustment, and psychological distress.
