INTRODUCTION
A new proposal for a course for professionals and managers in the Primary Care of the Brazilian Health System – SUS originated from the process of evaluation of previous courses.
The result is a unique Specialization in Family Health course, based on active teaching-learning methodologies and on the students’ professional practice scenarios.

 OBJECTIVE
To report the pedagogic experience of building the course syllabus for the Specialization in Family Health course.

 DEVELOPMENT
The methodologies chosen for conceiving and implementing the course are Problematization and PBL.
The development of the course syllabus was a joint work with participation of professionals from family health units, university professors and managers, who worked in presential and distance-learning workshops, with guidance from the course’s co-ordination and a pedagogic consultant.
The course syllabus’ main lines are the political, educational and health dimensions, as well as formative actions and actions from the practice and management of work.
After the identification of competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes), problem situations were devised and actions and curricular activities that will be part of the educational challenges were identified.

 CONCLUSIONS
The development of this course syllabus aims at laying the framework for a Specialization in Family Health course that will cater to the needs of health professionals and of SUS (Unified Health System) managers, and that will encourage them to develop the skills for identifying the real problems and their possible applicable original and creative solutions that are appropriate for the situation in which they are to be implemented.
On specific moments of the course, the contact between managers and health professionals is also one of its aims, in order to foster discussion and thought about practical and managerial situations so as to promote collective decision-making.
