The full monitoring the health of children is paramount to assess possible changes in growth and child development.The aim is to investigate the perception of the mother before the consultation childcare. Research the type exploratory and descriptive with a qualitative approach, held in the city of Croatian-Ce . The informants shall comprise eleven primiparous mothers of children under two years who were assisted by the nursing staff of the Family Health Program of St. Francisco. As a means of data collection was implemented for childcare in the locality under study, being conducted before each visit an educational session. After the successive consultations was held interview as a way to get the feedback of the implementation of the consultations, the mothers responded to the following questions: What is your opinion on the consultation of child welfare? How is the care with his son after the consultations? What happened to you participate in educational activities? After description of these data were analyzed based on Minayo (2002). The ethical rigor was present, according to Resolution 196/96 of the National Health. The description of the talk of informants were grouped by emerging convergence the following category: Learning in Childcare. After completion of consultations the mothers realized they still have much to learn and that monitoring was essential to learning about the care of his son, so that it will be easier if they have others. The investigation confirmed to identify the perception of mothers on the consultation of childcare, noting the need for its implementation as proposed by the Ministry of Health in order to avoid overcrowding of the tertiary network of the municipality, improving the health indicators As well as broaden the level of knowledge about the care of mothers with their children and improve the lives of these.
