87.71 Health care services for persons with disability in Satun, Thailand

Satun province has 1,905 person disabled or 0.8 percentages, in this amount   42.42 percentages are physical disabled or, movement. The arrangement serves the health for the disabled, physical and the movement in Satun, very majority in general hospital and in the 1 community hospital just, thus the researcher then take an interest to study serves the health for the disabled. In-depth interviews and observations were used for the data collection. The data was analysed using content analysis.  
The participants reported using five types of services: curative care for the disability and its complications; rehabilitation for muscle movement and exercise training; prosthesis and mobility aids; health education, prevention and health promotion; and continuous care for people with paralysis or muscle weakness.
Two forms of care provision were reported: chronic care and post operative care. The services were established in both the clinic and community. The clinical services provided by general and community hospitals comprised of: proper management of diseases and complications; rehabilitation; supplying medical equipment and caregivers preparedness. The instrumental support was provided only in the provincial hospital. The community services were provided by two care teams: 1) a home health care team; 2) a physiotherapy team providing rehabilitation services. The problems faced by the health providers were: 1) Caregiver Domain: a lack of knowledge and misunderstanding leading to loss of physical therapy training, economic constraints leading to a lack of continuous care; 2) Provider Domain: short supply of care providers, lack of specialists and 3) Resource Domain: lack of support equipment and rehabilitation units. 
                Recommendations for policy makers are to: develop self-help groups among the disabled community and form a network of helper relationships and provide a consultation unit that cooperates with organisations that include caregiver volunteer groups for people without caregiver.
