146.11 Assessment and relevant techinques of cognitive-positive multimodal therapy practices: Arabian perspective

Psychological therapies are equal players alongside physical and social measures in the assessment, management and prevention of health problems both physical and psychological. This presentation is an invitation to the researchers and  health practitioners to become aware of the role  of psychotherapy practice by using a multi-modal Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT ) integrated with concepts of current positive psychology disciplines .
     More specifically, the main four points of this presentation would be to provide the following:
 (1)     Psychometrical data (including reliability and validity,) related to identification  of  major positive thinking  and cognitive distortions’ patterns among  Saudis and Omanis subjects. Special emphasis would be on: (a) The Arabian  Irrational and Distorted- Thinking Scale (AIDS), and (b) The Arabian Positive –Thoughts Scale (APTS);
(2)     Treatment techniques acceptable for cross cultural use in psychotherapeutic services delivery in Arabic countries including identifying target behaviours, treatment goals, and selection of the therapeutic techniques will also be outlined.
(3)     Misconceptions about cognitive therapy, problems of practice, and  the need for psychological and mental health services in Arabic cultures will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives: 1. Training health practitioners on using newly developed techniques of assessment and mangament of health difficulties. 2. Sharpening our cultural sensitivity in dealing with patients in non-Western countries
