AIM: To show our experience in the development of health promotion theory in applied research, training and education.
MATERIAL AND METHOD:The institute for health protection works on a total area of 3.730 m² or 14.5 % of the of. It provides protection for nearly 196.499 citizens (according to the census from 2002). In the population structure there is 63.3% urban population (city population is about 124.340); rural population 36,7% ( rural population is about 72.159)
In the Institute works a haghly educated stuff:13MDs specialist, 3 MDs residents, 1 farmacy specialist, 4 medical coworkers,15 laboratory workers and 15 medical tehnitions.
RESULT:Our Strategic Plan is designed to integrate all of our efforts for the control of new and reemerging infections, health promotion and diseases
prevention. The financial problems we mets in public health during transition period are resolved in collaboration with local government; Ministry of health, NGO-s;MEDIA, bussines sector and EU fonds.
The Institute of Public Health has established a dynamic partnership with the local government of Bitola.The Institute of Public Health participate in trans-boundary Prespa Park Project.The main aim of this project is conservation of the ecological values and the biological diversity in the Prespa Park area. EWARN project:WHO strengthened the public health system to develop an
efficient early warning system (EWARN) for communicable diseases surveillance and control and outbreak response.
CONCLUSION: Assuring the conditions for public health is posible only with improving regional public health information and knowledge, establishing intersectoral cooperation and strengthening human resources in public health.
