he Necessity of Community Based Rehabilitation at the Sahara Refugee Camp
Introduction: At the Sahara Refugee Camp live almost 200.000 persons in 5 camps, totally dependents of international cooperation programs. At this desolate place we can find a lot of disabled people, many of them children that live in a marginalized way. Those children cannot count on  rehabilitation care and  do not attend school. For this reason the aim of this study was to evaluate the necessity of community based rehabilitation (CBR) at the Sahara refugee camp.
Methods and Material: It was a descriptive transversal study with a qualitative approach using interviews with health and educational professionals, families and members of the community that live in the Smara refugee Camp at Sahara. 40 individuals were interviewed.
Results: The mothers  affirmed that they don't have access to any kind of rehabilitation care and emotional support. The health professionals affirmed that the children stay all day long at home, lying on the floor. At the community level many people showed willingness to help because there isn’t much to do at the camp and depression is one of the biggest problems affecting the population at the camp .
Conclusion: At the Sahara Refugee Camp live a lot of individuals with physical disabilities. They cannot go outside their home and can't participate in society because they and their families don't have any kind of attention. In these circumstances a CBR approach is very important to stimulate community participation, to help the children and their families, to include them in society and to help them fight for their rights. The CBR can be a good way to reduce poverty and enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities, their families and all the community at the Sahara refugee camp.
