Home accidents is one of the high-priority issues to be addressed as they result in some injuries, mutilations and even death particularly among preschool children in the world and in Turkey. Children -who are unaware of the hazards around, more sensitive and vulnerable to environmental risks and interested in looking for and finding things- are in the high risk group in terms of home accidents. Many studies have shown that the rate of mutilation and death due to home accidents such as burn, falling and poisoning is quite high in the children of 0-6 age group. The best way to deal with the accidents and accident-related problems is to prevent occurrence of these accidents. Since personal and environmental factors play role in home accidents, these factors have to be controlled to prevent such accidents. First steps to be taken to prevent children from home accidents can be listed as accurate evaluation of environmental factors and learning the ways of preventing the behaviors that can result in accidents. Simple in-house measures can prevent the children in 0-6 age group from home accidents or minimize such accidents.
