The public’s health can be enhanced as health sector leaders understand and apply new insights into “governance for health gain” that build on advances in public health sector leadership and management. This session will review recent findings from a global study of factors that facilitate and frustrate good governance for health (G4H), from villages to parliaments. The session will address trends in challenges to and sensible approaches for governance principles and practices at all levels: community and district health bodies, NGOs and CSOs, hospitals and ministries of health. Practical materials will be provided that strengthen stakeholder engagement, transparency and accountability as a means for health systems strengthening and better health outcomes.
