BACKGROUND: hospital admissions for care-sensitive conditions have increased in recent years resulting in deaths and higher hospital costs. These high rates of hospitalizations in a population can indicate serious problems of access to health care or your performance. 

OBJECTIVE: identify hospitalizations for conditions sensitive to primary care in Ceilândia/DF between the years 2009 and 2010. 

METHOD: in a retrospective study of 8 students and 2 tutors PET-SAÚDE/VS Fellows reviewed the records of the Ceilândia Regional Hospital between the years 2009 and 2010, using as reference the Brazilian List of Primary Care Sensitive Conditions (Project ICSAP-Brazil, 2009).

RESULTS:  6489 records were manualment cataloged at the hospital. We present some difficulties such as loss of records, incorrect or illegible filling in the fields of diagnosis and ICD, incorrect addresses and lack of responsiveness of the staff of the file. These difficulties were mainly found in the data are not yet computerized. So far the hospital has been highlighted by hypertension, urinary tract infections in pregnancy, unspecified pneumonia, stroke and some types of diarrhea.

CONCLUSION: hospital admissions for care-sensitive conditions have been identified as an important tool to assist in monitoring cases of hospitalization due to a primary inefficient. From the information obtained, yet it is planned to hold workshops to establish measures healers especially in diseases more incidents, and guidance to health professionals in understanding their essential actions.
