Allen Jones (The Hilton Istanbul Hotel )
This short presentation will focus on a neglected area of health personnel development – those responsible for generating, using, translating and managing the evidence needed to improve health system performance. At the same time, it will highlight the tension between global initiatives and the need to find country-specific solutions – an aspect that applies to other categories of health worker as well. Futhermore, it will be argued that one can not focus merely on numbers and categories of workers but has to develop a comprehensive system view of human resource development and retention.
Learning Objectives: To discuss the importance of human resources for health research.
