145.38 Association of hypertension and diabetes in patients with cardiovascular disease

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are high prevalent diseases that are the major cause of mortality in the world. Cardiovascular diseases risk factors include innate factors such as age, gender, family history, and environmental and changeable factors including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and obesity.

 The purpose of this investigation was to determine relation between hypertension and diabetes with cardiovascular disease among patients hospitalized in madani heart of city,.

Material and method: In this cross- sectional study, 300 patients with cardiovascular disease hospitalized in CCU1, CCU2 sections of heart of were investigated. Data were collected by interviewing patients and filling valid questionnaires. Systolic and diastolic blood pressures were measured twice after a 10 minute rest, and then their mean was calculated as blood pressure. Fasting blood sugar (FBS) also was analyzed for all of the patients.

Results: most of the patients were in the 70-80 age group (25.1%) and the least were in the < 40 years old age group. Also, highest rate of patients were illiterate or preliminary stages (23.9%) and lowest rate were in the educated group (13.3%).

Moreover, 19% of patients showed hypertension, and 36.5% of patients were hyperglycemic.  

Discussion: Results of present research show that hypertension and diabetes can lead to cardiovascular diseases.
