Material and Methods: 88 pregnant women that are referring to health center participated in the educational program based on BASNEF model. The program covered four educational classes during the last three months of the pregnancy period and using with lecture, film and ask – response. Data were collected by a questionnaire included 46 questions based on BASNEF model components (demographic, knowledge, attitude, enabling factors, evaluation of results, subjective norms, behavioral intention and observational check list of breastfeeding).
Results: Paired t-test showed that mean score of knowledge, attitude, enabling factors and evaluation increased significantly after interventional program among experimental group. Mc-Nemar test showed that there was significant deference between before and after intervention of experimental group's subjective norms. Mann-Whitney test showed significant deference between the two groups after educational program related to behavioral intention.
Conclusion: The finding of this study supported the effectiveness of educational intervention based on BASNEF model on pregnant women breastfeeding behavior
