The International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP)
The International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), working with its
regional organisations - EuroRAP, usRAP and AusRAP, now has programmes
at different stages of development in over 40 states worldwide. iRAP's
new Vaccines for Roads methodology delivers:
* 'Star Rating' tables and maps showing the safety of roads for
car occupants, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians
* A road inventory database with 30 inspected attributes
describing the inspected network
* An estimate of the numbers being killed and seriously injured on
each inspected road
* A recommended network-wide countermeasure programme for
consideration by local stakeholders and funding bodies
* An analysis of how safety on the network varies with the speeds
vehicles drive
