The aim of this study to determinate the effectiveness of two different intervention on obesity at primary school students. It has aimed at least 10% decrease at obese and low-weight children from selected school students.
Material and methods:
This study is an intervention study. Schools are categorized based on socio-economic situations of streets. Six primary schools chosen by using the simple random sampling method from within the primary schools in Denizli city centre were included in the study. Schools were divided into three groups randomly . One of them selected as control group and the two others are selected as intervention 1 and 2 groups. Questionnaires and body weight and height measurements was applied in to all groups.
Healthy diet education, physical activity program, providing suitable environmental situations was applied to intervention 1 group. Healthy diet education, and providing suitable environmental situations was applied to intervention 2 group.
Results:
Questionnaires and body weight and height measurements of students were obtained from schools. Statistical evaluation will be made later.
Conclusion:
As a prolonged aim, it was aimed to prepare “Obesity Control Program Model” and perform it in Denizli first, to spread this model all over the city then, to send feedbacks and give some recommendation to relevant ministry.
