“Everybody’s School” is a project being developed by a partnership of DPOs[i] and NGOs[ii] in Brazil and Uruguay to promote a movement of children and schools that are committed to the principles of EFA, and know how to address the social determinants of health and education in their communities. The materials designed to train teachers and others in the education field are available in Portuguese and in Spanish, and the project aims to become a Global South-South collaboration initiative, with the objective of soon being applied in other Latin American and Portuguese-speaking African countries.
The project has focused on practical tools to connect the dots between health promotion, inclusive education and child participation. The hypothesis behind this approach is that only by creating an environment of empowerment and multisectorial collaboration can schools in developing countries address the  persistent context of adversity, and allow children to develop the attitudes and life skills that are required to combat exclusion.
