133.23 School health nursing interventions to acquire positive health behaviours

The aim of this study to evaluate school health nursing interventions to acquire positive health behaviours.

 This study was involved third, fourth and fifth grade students attending Türk Pirelli Primary School in Kocaeli without chosing any sample (n: 240) Methodolojic desing was used in this study. Posters, Discover Positive Health Behaviour Program and school nursing interventions, all of them based on Social Cognitive Theory were used to acquire positive health behaviours. There was three intervention groups; A Group (n: 78), B Group (n: 82) and C Group (n: 78). A group was included only poster interventions; B Grup was included both poster and Discover Positive Health Behaviour Program interventions; C group was included all school health nursing interventions. Data was collected by Children Health Locus of Control Scale (Parcel, 1978), Self Efficacy Scale (Sherer et al., 1982) Child Form and Children Health Perceptions and Behaviours Scale.

  The diffirences of repeated measures ANOVA test’s means of Children Health Locus of Conrol Scale and Self Efficacy Scale in C group which includes all school health nursing interventions were statistically significant (p<0.01). The differences of repeated measures ANOVA test’s means of exercise area of Children Health Perception and Health Behaviors Scale in all groups were no statistically significant (p>0.05) but the differences of repeated measures ANOVA test’s means of the other areas in this scale such as health responsibility, nutrition, self realization, coping with stress, social support, security and hygienic habits were statistically significant (p<0.01). School nursing interventions based on Social Cognitive Theory are effective to acquire positive health behaviours.
