The paper presents the key findings of the 2006 Health Survey of the Republic of Serbia which includes lifestyle, knowledge and attitude towards health in adult population.
Key findings: The smoking prevalence was reduced in adult population, and smoking was more prevalent in men than in women. In 2006 a significant improvement was acheived in awareness of adverse consequences of smoking.
Risky behaviour in traffic was particularly marked in drivers aged 18-34 years of  age, where almost all confessed to having driven under the influence of alcohol, exceeding the speed limit and using a mobile phone while driving.
Out ot the total number of adults who has sex with non-regular partners, only somewhat above one half used a condom at the latest sexual intercourse with a non-regular partner.A significant improvement was also achieved in the percentage of women who went for regular gynecological check-ups.
Relating to hygiene habits of adults, a significant improvement was achieved in regular hand washing, but the percentage of those that took regular baths or showers and maintained oral hygiene were reduced.
Almost every other adult had at least one of the chronic diseases (elevated blood pressure, rheumatic articular diseases, elevated blood lipids, etc.). The proportion of adults with high blood pressure has increased reaching 46,5% in 2006.

According to the results of the National Health Survey of the Republic of Serbia, it can be concluded that health promotion and rising of health awareness are neccessary steps for future activities.
