In spite of these discussions, neither actions has been taken for the life quality of this professional segment nor health promotion or disease prevention have been implemented for those who take care of the citizens wellness. A scientific study involving the health care professionals was accomplished for the first time in Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo State, in Brazil. The objective was to understand the health worker's profile, translating to a quantitative form in order to be analyzed. This study focused on social, clinical and laboratorial issues as well as workers' mouth condition based on the "Health Care Vigilance" Workers' manual. The results were achieved by distributing a detailed questionnaire, which contained medical, nursing and odontological consultations. Seventy workers who are part of this Family Care Unit staff accepted to participate on this research answering the questionnaire. The results showed that, despite of other items, 50% of workers don't register work accidents, 47.7% are overweight, 8.57% have metabolic syndrome and 78.58% have a sedentary life. Regarding their mouth health, in 34.29% of the interviewees recognized that they do not use dental floss, meanwhile the oral hygiene/cleanness index (IHOS) was deficient in 65.21%, and the index of presence of cavities, lost or filled teeth (CPOD) got to a 16.3 mark, consisting of a high index of predominance. The important indicators collected will help the implementation of public politics in the work health area.
