Development and evaluation of the health educational model in primary medical clinics: An experience in Taiwan

Background:
To promote patient health education is one of importment policy in Depatment of Health of Taiwan . The patient health educational model at hospital medical clinics was done since the year 2001 and has some effects, the researcher try conducting it to primary medical clinics.      
Purpose:
The study purpose was amid to develop and evaluate the evaluation of health educational model in primary medical clinics.
Methods:
The study designed was depended on patient’s health educational demand and need and the quota sampling technique was apply to select 14 samples from 7 areas in Taiwan. researcher develop health educational checklist to create a new primary medical clinics health education model and evaluate it from clinics and patients view.
Results:
The results as follows: from primary medical clinics view, (1)the health educational checklist can prevent some slip-up of health educational process and content.(2)the clinics makes some change for new health educational model include clinics environment, equipment, educational process and content. From patient’s view, (1) about 93.3% of patients had received disease-related health education while the medical treatment process, (2) patients aware of the educational model was difference from the clinic before. (3) About 96% think the health educational model was acceptable and meet their needs, 97.5% will return to clinic if necessary. (4) the patients of urban areas expressed that health educational model was useable and helpful but spend more time. the patient from rural areas senses that health educational model was difference before and the content was usedable.
Conclusions: 
This study may be of impotence in developing and explaining of the health educational model’s efficincy in primary medical clinics. As well as providing health educator with a better understanding of how to promote patient’s education in primary medical clinics.
