78.02 Prevalence of erectile dysfunction in a sample of patients from Transylvania

Introduction and purpose

            Present study aims to evaluate the prevalence of erectile dysfunction and the severity degrees of affection in a sample of patients from Transylvania admitted in 5th Medical Clinic Cluj-Napoca, Urology Department.            Material and method

            The sample includes 924 patients, male, aged between 40 and 91 years. It was used the questionnaire method, the IIEF (International Index of Erectile Function) which has 15 questions and could evaluate the severity degrees of affection according to the score.

            The sample was divided by decade, each decade with its prevalence of erectile dysfunction and severity degrees.            Results and discussions

            The severe erectile dysfunction (IIEF score < 20) occurs in 16.2 percent, moderate erectile dysfunction (IIEF score 21-40) in 22.4 percent and mild erectile dysfunction (IIEF score 41-60) in 45.2 percent.             Conclusions

            To evaluate the prevalence of erectile dysfunction is the first step to therapeutically approach the disease and then, elaborate a strategy which increases the quality of life in those patients.
