Introduction

Since the beginning of creation, women have been the fabric of human existence. Yet, unfortunately, they have been subjected to different forms of abuse.  As results of the abuse, women have suffered physically, mentally and socially, their health has been affected, and their human rights have been violated. Women’s health issues have been neglected globally by policy makers. This has translated into an increased incidence of women’s mortality and morbidity worldwide.

 Objectives

 1. Increase awareness of the global issue of violence against women.
2. Assess the extent to which intimate-partner violence is associated with a range of negative health outcomes.
3. Identify barriers and facilitators to intimate partner violence.

 Methodology-
An empirical analysis of multivariate studies from various nations reported in current literature will be discussed. According to a report by the World Health Organization, the proportion of ever-partnered women who had ever experienced physical or sexual violence, or both, by an intimate partner in their lifetime, ranged from 15% to 71%, with most sites falling between 29% and 62%.

Results- Women and teenage girls have been subjected to forced prostitution including trafficking and have fallen victims to sexually transmitted diseases including Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection. A consequence of this is the increasing feminization of HIV/AIDS in the world.

 Conclusion -
Gender-based violence is found in all races, ethnicities, regions and socio-economic status. Inadequate and limited access to quality health care due to social, cultural, economic, and political factors hinder both prevention and management of gender-based violence directed towards women.  Innovative solutions to enhance gender equity and how best to address gender-based violence will be shared.
