Research on current situation and changing trend of vector biology in the reservoir area of Three Gorges

Ge Zhou Ba Project and Three Gorges Project are all world-famous hydropower projects, while they carry on cascade development, we have been carrying on research to the situation of vector biology in the reservoir area constantly.
We have coordinated and identified the samples gathered over the years, and the we summarize and learn that there are 568 kinds of known vector biology which are related to medical science in Yichang. The 568 kinds of vector biology belong to the jurisdiction of 12 items, 51 subjects, 220 generas.  We have found 6 new species of medical insects and a lot of new records of Hubei Province.
Mouse's density of different periods of reservoir area of Three Gorges presents the downward trend generally, and outdoor mouse's density is higher than the indoor mouse's. During 1980 - 1984, 1997-2000 when Ge Zhou Ba Project and Three Gorges Project were in second-stage construction period separately, the mouse density is higher than the adjacent period. The potential reason is that engineering construction influences the mouse ecology which causes the it’s breed overly. All in all, the mouse density is relatively low in the course of engineering construction, which is related to the fact the clear bottom of hygiene four times in the reservoir area plays an important role.
Mosquito density in livestock room is far higher than in people's room. Mosquito density has two peak periods, one is during 1989-1995, the other is during 2001-2003. Rising of the mosquito density of two periods is likely to the fact that mosquito habitation is increased with the increasing of still water area, and several effective measure isn’t kept up with at the same time.
