Children growth is one of the most important indicators of social and economical development and the quality of health care in every country. The aim of this study was to compare the situation of infant growth in year 2007 with year 1993, and also with the N.C.H.S standard crump. This study was a part of large descriptive study in east rural regions of Ahvaz city, Iran. The sample size was six month old infants that were covered by health center services in Ahwaz city east rurals. Data collection was done by searching through documents for a period of one month.
The results of this study showed the mean weight of infants in 2007 had a significant difference with the mean of weight of infants in 1993, and it showed a desirable increase (p<0/05).The indicator of infants weight in year 2007 was equal in comparison with the size of N.C.H.S standard. There was no significant relationship between the weight of infants with the kind of nutrition and the time of complementary of feeding (P>/05).
In conclusion because health promotion in rural areas has promoted maternity nutrition and reduction of communicable diseases of infants, therefore it is the main cause of the increase in weight of children after more than a decade.
