Progress in Abolishing Chemical Weapons

A PowerPoint presentation will discuss the successful elimination of over 50,000 metric tons of deadly chemical agents, under the verified auspices of the Chemical Weapons Convention, in six countries since 1997 and also prior to the CWC’s entry into force.  Also discussed will be the absence of 7 countries, including several in Africa and the Middle East, from the CWC; state and terrorist threats of use today; possible implications for public health and the environment; and necessary legal and policy steps forward.
