G: Yohannes Tsigie Hall (Millennium Hall)
Dr. Lekan Ayo-Yusuf is an associate professor in the Department of Community Dentistry at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is also a visiting scientist at the Centre for Global Tobacco Control at the Harvard School of Public Health, USA. He provides cessation training and services at the dental hospital of the University of Pretoria and has trained several health care providers across Africa in the treatment of tobacco use and dependence. He has over 40 publications and book chapters. He has been active in research on oral health promotion and tobacco control for over a decade, and has rapidly gained recognition as a leading expert in tobacco control and oral public health in South Africa and internationally. Dr Ayo-Yusuf published the first articles on the contents and health effects of smokeless tobacco used in South Africa. In addition to several other published articles, he has made presentations to the South African parliament on tobacco control legislation and presented scientific papers at local and international scientific meetings. He is a member of a number of local and international organizations, including the prestigious Scientific Group on Tobacco Regulation (TobReg) of the World Health Organization.
