Forum for Public Health in South-Eastern Europe (FPH-SEE) is a regional network of schools and institutes of public health from 11 SEE countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia). The network was initiated in the year 2000 by the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe through a project aimed for reestablishment of cooperation and capacity building in public health in the region. The main objective was to support postgraduate public health training through development of teaching materials (modules) in English that were expected to be of regional specificity but also of international standard and high quality regarding both, content and teaching methods. Numerous meetings, summer schools and students’ conferences resulted in reestablishment of professional links between public health teachers, researchers and professionals from SEE countries and their contacts with colleagues throughout Europe and worldwide. The main product of networking is a collection of teaching modules which was from the very beginning structured into Internet based Curriculum enabling further development and exchange of modules between lecturers as well as their use and evaluation in programs running at different institutions. Based on this Curriculum (available at http://fph-see.snz.hr/curriculum) a series of six book volumes with 4360 pages has been published between 2004 and 2010 encompassing altogether some 250 modules authored by more than 200 authors coming from 18 countries.
