The aim of study was to describe the need of boosting cadre motivation for actively participate in the health integrated post implementation in Tangerang Selatan, Banten. This research was part of the mother and child survey. Data was collected during August to October 2010 by using qualitative method. A purposive sampling method has been used and indepth interviewed on, midwifes, mother and child staff, district health coordinator. FGD conducted on 8 community health integrated post cadres. Analysis was using content analysis.
Cadres were complaint that they were not involved in the planning of maternal health program. A top down approach have treated the beneficiaries of such assistance as passive recipients. Cadres have played little or no active role in addressing their own development needs and priorities. Cadres stated that there was lack of government support in giving the refreshing training and in providing an effective information tools for helping cadres to be a resource person in the community. Low motivation among cadres to active in maternal program aroused from both cadres and midwives and mother and child staff. Midwives and mother and child staff stated that they work overloaded at the public health center and need cadres to support them. District health coordinator argued that the policy was recently issued on a maternal and child health; there were a lot of work to do and evaluate. Coordination with cadres will be the first priority.
Maternal health can no longer be programmed successfully, unless done in tandem with community involvement. There is a need for government to boosting cadre motivation through cadre-friendly program will be contributed in achieving MDGs.
